Chair’s Welcome

Welcome to the PPG section of the Practice Website

The PPG was formed in 2006 to provide a link between the Patients and the Doctors, Nurses and Staff of Handforth Doctor’s Surgery.

Handforth Doctor’s Surgery strives to provide our patients with the highest standards of healthcare and they are constantly looking at ways to improve and adapt to the needs of the patients.  The PPG is there to provide that patient’s voice.

Broadly, the aims of the PPG are:

  • To be champions for/and represent the interests of patients, both within the practice and the wider audience of CHAW (the Chelford, Handforth, Alderley Edge and Wilmslow practice group).
  • To improve communications between the Practice Staff and Patients.
  • To act as a “critical friend” of the practice.
  • Discuss topics of mutual interest to the Practice and Patients
  • Encourage improvements within the GP Practice.
  • Increase Patient satisfaction within the service they receive.
  • To influence others outside the Practice, such as CHAW and Cheshire East CCG of mattersthat affect our patients
  • To assist the Practice in communicating news and information to patients

Our PPG is made up of a number of volunteer Patients.  We meet 3 or 4 times a year for approximately 90 minutes.  Also present at the meetings is one of the GP partners, the Practice Manager and Assistant Practice Manager.  This means real decisions can be made and we have the most up-to-date information to be discussed.

We are always looking for new members to join us to ensure we reflect all our patients – we would especially welcome volunteers from younger age groups, including parents of younger children and various ethnic groups.

If you want to find out more, or are interested in joining us – please see the linked pages.  We need your support, comments and ideas and we look forward to welcoming you to our group!

Best wishes,

Mark and Jenny Pepper
